Volunteering Makes A Difference

Volunteering Makes A Difference

Feeding America Tampa Bay strives to offer fun and interesting ways for both individuals and groups to contribute their time and talents to support our mission of ending hunger in West Central Florida. Our Tampa, Land O’ Lakes and Clearwater locations all offer various volunteer opportunities.

In order to maintain the efficiency of our volunteer program, Feeding America Tampa Bay is now using Volunteer Hub, a volunteer management software that allows us to post multiple opportunities at once while also assisting the volunteer with an activity that best fits their interest.

Please click the Volunteer button below to view our current opportunities and register today!

Warehouse Volunteers

We always have openings for volunteers to help us at our warehouses! Our Tampa, Clearwater and Land O’ Lakes locations all house food donations given by various businesses and community food drives. Volunteer activities may include sorting produce, bakery and nonperishable food donations, stocking food pantry shelves or packing grocery bags for families in need.

Fun Fact: These two sources of food donations make up over 30% of the food we distribute each year!

Volunteering at our warehouse is not only a fantastic service project for families, church groups and students working on Bright Future service hours, but also great for organizations and companies looking for team-building activities.

Children are welcome but must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian. We require that all volunteers wear CLOSED TOE SHOES for safety, dress modestly and bring a completed waiver. The warehouses offer various volunteering sessions throughout the week so please click here for our current opportunities. Both groups and individuals are welcome to sign up. This is our most popular way to volunteer so dates fill up quickly!

For corporate and/or groups over 15 people, please contact our Volunteer Manager, Ashton Connell , to sign up for volunteering opportunities.

Mobile Pantry Distribution Volunteers

As the need for help grows, we are always looking for volunteers to lend a helping hand in the communities we serve. Our Agency Relations team is responsible for coordinating our Mobile Pantry initiative, which allows Feeding America Tampa Bay to partner with a local organization and give out packages of food to large amounts of individuals and families in need. Dates and locations of these distributions vary month to month. Groups of 10 or less are encouraged to volunteer. Individuals are also welcome.

Office Volunteers

Along with warehouse volunteering, we also offer volunteer opportunities in our office. Data entry, filing, making copies and other administrative tasks that will make everyone in our office happy that you’re here!

This is a great chance to see how a bustling non-profit works! Individuals interested in a career change or looking to fill up some extra time on their hands are ideal for these positions. Individuals who are able to commit to longer volunteering terms will be trained on Feeding America Tampa Bay's software and provided with a company car! (Just kidding!-– you will be cherished though!)

      Kids Cafe Volunteers

The school year is in full swing and there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with this program. These projects vary from giving snacks and meals to the children after school, handing out bags of food to the children before they leave for the weekend, to teaching the children about nutrition and other health related subjects. Locations are available throughout Tampa and Pinellas though times and dates vary. In order not to overwhelm our Kids Cafe children, we ask that volunteer groups be 10 or less. Individuals are also welcome. Please note that because this opportunity involves children, there is a separate application process.

Fact: Florida has the nation’s 4th highest rate of child food insecurity, affecting 1 in 4 kids.

Special Event Volunteers

Feeding America Tampa Bay is a non-profit food bank, and receives no government assistance. In order to carry out our mission of ending hunger in West Central Florida, we hold various special events during the year, ranging from our annual Empty Bowls luncheon to our famous Lucky Ducky Derby. Volunteers may help in a variety of different ways – assisting in registration, set up and clean up, running activity areas and so much more! If you or your group is interested in volunteering for a special event, contact Ashton Connell for more details.

Please contact Volunteer Services for available volunteer shifts.
