Empty Bowls 2012
As we speak, young students in more than 50 area schools are fashioning the small decorative ceramic bowls that have become the signature element of Feeding America Tampa Bay’s annual Empty Bowls event, a traditional community celebration of the food bank’s mission – Ending Hunger, Nourishing Hope.
The upcoming holiday season will find hundreds of thousands of our neighbors in the Tampa Bay area unable to meet their families’ needs. With close to 250,000 children struggling with hunger in our area, the need for food assistance is urgent.
To help meet that need, Feeding America Tampa Bay presents Empty Bowls 2012 on Thursday, November 15th, at Lykes Park in downtown Tampa from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. For a $10 donation, you’ll receive a lunch of soup, bread, fruit and water – similar to a soup kitchen fare. Commemorative bowls made by local school children are gifted to each guest serving as a reminder to all at this special time of the year that there are always empty bowls to fill.
Your participation in Empty Bowls 2012 makes it possible for Feeding America Tampa Bay to provide more than a million meals every month to those who need it most. Please lend a hand in supporting the food bank’s traditional Thanksgiving event. With your help, we can fill countless empty bowls and inspire hope in the hearts of the hungry here in the Tampa Bay community we all call home.
